INSTRUCTOR PROFILE:
I hold a Teacher’s Assistant Certification and a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Alberta (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada), with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in Math and Science. I’m also a certified Balanced Literacy educator in both reading and writing.
I spent nearly a decade teaching Grades 5 and 6 in the same school district before relocating to Arizona, where I’ve since worked as a substitute teacher and as a reading and math interventionist for students in Grades K–5. With over 20 years of experience supporting students in both one-on-one and group settings, I bring a strong foundation in helping learners thrive.
I take pride in connecting with students by tuning into what motivates them and discovering their unique interests. I believe that identifying strengths in one area can often help unlock growth in another. My goal is to make learning enjoyable and to guide students in taking ownership of their learning—building confidence and a lifelong love of learning along the way.
Outside of teaching, I stay actively involved in my own children’s learning and extracurricular lives—whether I’m driving to a practice, cheering at a meet, or picking someone up from an activity. I also enjoy running, cycling, and walking our dog. My family loves to travel, and we’re always on the lookout for our next adventure.
At Peak Academics, I work with elementary students on math, reading, homework support, and executive functioning skill development.
